Dear Friends,
You’ve probably noticed that the financial markets have been volatile lately. Undeniably, 2020 has tried our patience. We’re living through the effects of the COVID-19 shutdown, watching the devastation of wildfires in the Western states, and let’s not forget about the very heated political environment. An end to this season of trials can’t come soon enough.
But how should we respond to the market volatility that these events bring?
Several years ago, I had the honor of being invited onboard one of our Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarriers, the USS John C Stennis, joining the brave men and women of the US Navy for a weeklong cruise along the Pacific coast.
This was an experience of a lifetime!
I heard the stories from the pilots of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323 as they recounted their experiences flying some of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world. What I learned about aviation that week resonated with me as a financial advisor and an investor. In this video, I’d like to share with you some principles of investing during difficult times that come from the experiences of some of our nation’s bravest.
Sincerely,
Richard Sturm
